Cats and Cards Doors Help Fuel Local College Hoops Excitement!

We really received some interesting "customer feedback" with the Cats and Cards doors on display in our showroom.  Loyalties were quickly made known to us.

Congratulations to both teams for providing our city with some exciting hoops action.

Steve's Little Friend Is A Big Fan!

At our installation meetings, we end our time together sharing successes or some positive news. Recently, our Lead Installer, Steve told us he has a fan club of one! (We beg to differ. Steve has lots of fans. Just ask our customers.) But back to the story.

Three-year-old Todd G. loves to watch Steve work. Over the past 12 months, Steve has been at Todd's home several times working on different projects. Todd – an energetic and obviously opinionated lad – raves over Steve's work complimenting him with a "good job, Steve" as only young children can. Not surprisingly, Steve has become fond of Todd, too. So Steve decided to give Todd a gift – a tape measure. Well now Steve is a hero! Todd loves his gift so much he is sleeping with his first ever carpenter's tool.

The story doesn't end there. In turn, little Todd gave Steve a candy sucker. That's quite the sacrifice for a very young child. Anyway, we really liked Steve's success story.

PS: If you'd like your own Door Store and Windows tape measure, stop by our showroom and ask! We have plenty.

Notes From A Visit To Warroad, MN - Home of Marvin Windows and Doors

Recently, our own Donna Owen, Inside Sales Representative and our newest team member, John Naiser, Window Sales Representative visited the Marvin factory and corporate offices in Warroad, Minnesota for training and a sneak peek at new products.

Donna received a hands-on demonstration of Marvin's new Lift and Slide Door, their largest door ever, capable of spanning an opening of 60 feet wide and 12 feet tall!  Click on the image at right to see Donna in action.

John shared his observations on the visit, particularly Marvin's legendary attention to detail, "I was struck by a number of things, but one was the high level of attention to detail.  Even in a modern, highly automated process there was still a surprisingly high degree of human interaction and oversight of the production."  He adds, "I saw Marvin team members take the time to verify the exact spacing of grilles on every window.  It was very impressive as it would be easy to imagine other manufacturers checking that critical detail only intermittently, if at all."

Seeing Marvin's craftsmanship and business acumen in action was very impressive according to John. He notes, "Marvin's "green" approach to capturing and utilizing all by-products of the manufacturing process was impressive. Since the production process generates a considerable amount of wood scraps, shavings and other waste, Marvin has devised a number of systems to capture all of this waste and recycle it as a fuel source for their plant as well as for other manufacturers in the area."
