A group of students from three area colleges have teamed up to form Team Kentuckiana and will compete in the 2013 U.S. Department of Energy “Solar Decathlon” with an entry featuring windows and doors by Integrity from Marvin from The Door Store and Windows.
Door Store and Windows is happy to support Team Kentuckiana and their Phoenix House entry. Integrity Windows and Doors are made from Ultrex pultruded fiberglass and offer excellent structural integrity and energy efficiency benefits to meet the needs of this post-disaster housing prototype.
Team Kentuckiana comprises students and faculty mentors from three universities: the University of Louisville, Ball State University, and the University of Kentucky. The University of Louisville provides engineering, business, and communication expertise; Ball State University leads the architecture and construction management initiatives; and the University of Kentucky contributes design and engineering support.
The U.S. Department of Energy “Solar Decathlon” is an international biennial competition that challenges twenty collegiate teams to design, build, and exhibit solar-powered homes. Solar Decathlon 2013 will be held at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California from October 3 to 13, 2013.
