Architecturally Accurate Windows Keep Tudor True to Its Past
This lovely Tudor located in the Highlands area of Louisville was experiencing some symptoms of aging. Storm panels covered original double-hung windows, but didn’t provide adequate protection from weather. In addition, simply allowing fresh air into the house became an exhausting process of wrestling with the old double-hungs and then working the storm panels open. The homeowner was ready for an upgrade, but insisted on historical accuracy with the new windows.
Project Highlights
- Esposito Construction worked with Door Store and Windows to specify Marvin’s Ultimate Double-Hung Insert Replacement Windows to replace the 80 year old double-hung windows in the home.
- Marvin’s frame-in-frame design allowed the windows to be built precisely to each window opening, eliminating the need to remove the existing frame or disturb the attractive exterior and interior trim of the house.
- Even details down to the tilt-release mechanism on the Marvin windows was architecturally accurate to the home.
Results
Marvin’s Ultimate Double-Hung Insert Windows provide outstanding energy-efficiency and allowed removal of the aluminum storm panels to further transform the facade of the home. The interior trim was not disturbed during installation keeping the charm of the original woodwork intact. The homeowner is thrilled with the new look and utility of the Marvin windows. Catching a springtime breeze is now a breeze with the easy-operating windows!
“We always get great service from The Door Store and Windows. They were very helpful with delivery and worked with my installer to make sure everything was on-time and correct. We’re very pleased with the results!“
