In 2025, we had no shortage of projects that proved the right doors and windows can completely transform a home. From dramatic front-entry upgrades to energy-efficient window replacements that brightened entire living spaces, these real-life makeovers from the past year showcase the power of innovative design and quality craftsmanship.
1. A Major Front Entrance Redesign
Steven Tolle – Replacement Sales Consultant
With this house, the focus was on a dramatic update to the front entrance.

What we did:
- Marvin double doors
- No transom
- Removed sidelites
Why it’s special:
Removing the transom and converting the entry to double doors changed the overall
feel of the entry. the new Marvin doors:
- Create a stronger, more substantial presence at the front of the home
- Offer better functionality with a wider opening for everyday use and moving larger items
- Deliver cleaner, more modern lines that visually “ground” the entry
This project is an excellent example of how rethinking the layout of a front door—not just replacing it—can completely transform the look and usability of a home’s main entrance.

2. Letting in the Light
Steven Tolle – Replacement Sales Consultant
This front door renovation shows how changing the type and style of glass in a door can significantly affect both the appearance of the home and the amount of natural light that flows inside.

What we did:
- All new ProVia Legacy Steel Door and Sidelites
- Replaced the wood trimthat had fluting with Fypon smooth panel
Why it’s special:
Although these selections are a dramatic departure from the original, the door, sidelites, and trim work align seamlessly with the home’s architecture, creating a stylish, modern look.

3. Refreshing Style with Color & Pattern Changes
Karen LaMontagne – Replacement Sales Consultant
Karen’s first project shows how powerful it can be to update more than just the products themselves, but also the style details like window lite patterns and shutter design.

What we did:
- All new Marvin Elevate windows
- Atlantic Shutters
- New Weather Shield front door
Why it’s special:
- Window lite patterns: We changed the lite patterns to modernize the look and still complement the home’s style
- Shutters: Switched from louvered to paneled shutters for a more tailored, architectural appearance.
- Front door: Changed from a single door with sidelights to double doors, creating a stronger, more welcoming entry.

Color transformation:
- Before: Black shutters and black door
- After: A rich, dark green on both shutters and door
The new dark green adds softness, warmth, and depth, while beautifully complementing the brick. Instead of a stark contrast, the home now has a more refined, harmonious palette that feels both classic and updated.
4. Preserving Character on a Tudor Home
Karen LaMontagne – Replacement Sales Consultant
This Tudor home is full of character, and the goal was to upgrade performance while honoring the original style. We approached it in multiple phases, making thoughtful changes over time.
What we did:
- All new Marvin Ultimate (ULT) windows
- Signature arched front Sapele door built by Signature Door Company
- Matching combination storm door from Signature

Why it’s special:
- Replicated the original window design so the new Marvin ULT windows look right at home on the Tudor façade
- Carefully matched the original arched front door style in a beautiful Sapele wood, preserving the distinctive entry that defines the home
- Added a combination storm door that protects the wood door while still showcasing the arch and craftsmanship
This project blended respect for the home’s architecture with modern performance. Across three phases, we’ve been able to steadily update the home while keeping its soul intact.

What These Projects Have in Common
Across all of these homes, a few themes show up again and again:
- Thoughtful design choices matter: Changes in lite patterns, panel styles, and color (like dark green shutters and door) can be as impactful as the products themselves.
- Respecting architecture pays off: The Tudor home show how honoring a home’s character or setting leads to the most satisfying results.
- Longevity and relationships drive excellent outcomes: Partnering with an established company ensures consistent product matching—ideal for phased projects and seamless collaboration with your sales consultant.
If you’re planning your own window or door improvements, remember the right combination of products, details, and design can completely transform your home—inside and out—while still making it feel unmistakably “yours.”
