Bungalow Made Beautiful
The husband and wife team of Derek Paprocki and Emily Fisher, co-owners of Rock Paper Hammer, turned a forgotten bungalow on a great corner lot in the Frankfort Avenue area into their own charming and amazingly spacious residence. The home is a testament to their creative talents with interesting built-ins and efficient space utilization all tailored to the way the active couple and their family lives.
Project Highlights
- Emily and Derek chose Marvin windows to retain the original look of the home while updating to improve energy efficiency.
- Expansive banks of windows found in the kitchen and living room are a nod to the couple’s modern interpretation of the bungalow design and provide abundant natural light and pleasing views of their yard.
- The designer color palette available for Marvin’s exterior extruded aluminum cladding offered ample opportunity for Emily, a registered architect, to find the exact color combination for the outside of their home.
- The natural wood interior finish provides the perfect complement to their interior design tastes.
Results
The couple marvels at Marvin’s engineering and construction details that make the windows so easy to open and close and allow the sash to be tilted in or removed for quick cleaning. Screens are easy to install or remove and allow Emily and Derek to enjoy natural ventilation when the temperature permits.
